SINGAPORE: Marine Parade GRC is kicking off a pilot project named the Heartland E-Waste Recycling Programme, where unwanted electronics and appliances are dropped into designated e-waste recycling bins.
Leading the way were Members of Parliament of the GRC, headed by Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, who launched the Marine Parade Town Day celebrations.
The number of e-waste collected through the six-month trial programme will be converted into energy-saving light bulbs to benefit the less-privileged living in Marine Parade and Mountbatten.?
Involving environment and charitable elements, the effort is in line with creating a 4G (Green, Gracious, Generous and Great) Home in Marine Parade Town.
Residents have been encouraged to bring their e-waste to the first collection drive at the Town Day.
The 10 residents committees in Marine Parade and Mountbatten will also hold their collection drives on the first Sunday of each month from August to December.
