This Picture Was Taken with Google Glasses [Video]

Google Glass researcher Sebastian Thrun recently chatted with Charlie Rose—and showed off his prototype awesome and possibly dumb-looking face computer. We haven't learned anything groundbreaking, but boy, the picture he took of Charlie sure looks bad. More »

Tupac hologram: Coming to a stage near you? (+video)

Tupac hologram: A hologram of deceased rapper Tupac Shakur caused a big splash at the Coachella music festival. Dr. Dre may take the Tupac hologram on the road.

Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg resurrected late rapper Tupac Shakur as an onstage hologram singing hit songs and wowing crowds alongside other hip hop stars to close the first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on Sunday night.

The life-sized figure of Shakur, who died at age 25 in a 1996 shooting, appeared on stage with Snoop Dogg causing a lull to fall momentarily across thousands of people gathered to see the set. They couldn't believe their eyes.

The?Tupac hologram performed "Hail Mary" and "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted" with Snoop Dogg before dissipating into thin air, leaving the audience in awe, and somewhat unsettled, by the technology used to make the rapper reappear and perform.

The Wall Street Journal reports now that Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg are making plans to take the Tupac hologram on tour.

Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg had plenty more surprises in store for their set, including appearances from rappers Eminem, who performed "I Need A Doctor," "Forget About Dre" and "Till I Collapse" with Dr Dre, and 50 Cent, who rapped "In Da Club."

Nate Dogg, who died last year aged 41, was remembered by Snoop and Dr. Dre through a montage of photographs and a performance of "Ain't No Fun," featuring Warren G and Kurupt, all of whom had worked with Nate Dogg over their careers.

Dre and Snoop also brought on rising hip hop stars such as Kendrick Lamar and Wiz Khalifa, who came on stage to sing "Young, Wild & Free."

The Coachella closer came after a hot list of acts performed in the sunshine during Sunday, finally allowing festival-goers to party in warmth after cool desert weather blanketed the event from its outset on Friday.

EARLY ACTS

Earlier on Sunday, Florence + The Machine returned to Coachella with lead singer Florence Welch, dressed in a blue velvet unitard with a cape, dancing around the stage and singing hits such as "Cosmic Love," "Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)" and "Dog Days Are Over."

Australian singer Gotye's show proved to be a hot ticket as crowds overflowed from Coachella's Mojave tent at sunset.

Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE listed as 'coming soon' on Bell Canada's site

Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE listed as 'coming soon' on Bell Canada's site

Just a couple of days ago, Canadian carrier WIND quietly outed its soon-to-be Nokia Lumia 710, and now it's Bell's turn to follow suit by teasing an upcoming device of its own. Unlike WIND, however, Bell isn't flaunting a Mango-flavored handset, but instead a Gingerbread-loaded Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE. As you may have guessed by the "LTE" stuffed in its relatively long dub, this Sammy slab will be able to surf through the Mobility network's Long Term Evolution waves. Sadly, the product page isn't showing us just how much cash you'll have to unleash, or how "soon" we can expect it to hit shelves around the True North. No worries, though, since Bell does have a signup page waiting for you to kindly place your name on it.

PlayStation Suite's 'open beta' SDK available to download now

PlayStation Suite's 'open beta' SDK available to download now

As promised last month, Sony has launched its PlayStation Suite SDK on open beta. Machinations have continued since November behind closed beta doors, but the free SDK is now available for anyone to download. Developers will be able to make content accessible for all PlayStation-certified devices, from the PS Vita to Sony's batch of Android phones and tablets. The official version is still pegged for launch later in 2012 and will demand an annual subscription for access. During the open beta, users can create games that use both physical buttons and touchscreen input with a PC-based simulator, test and debug those creations on willing Sony devices and debate away in the dedicated developer forum. Those with lofty game-making dreams for the PlayStation Suite can download the open beta at the source link below, but expect to sign a new contract when the full SDK goes official.

Nook Audio pops up on Barnes & Noble's site, with no e-ink to speak of

Image

What the heck? Did Barnes & Noble score a deal with Dr. Dre? Is the whole reading thing just not doing it for the company anymore? Whatever the case may be, it seems that the Nook name is ready to branch out a bit from the e-reader space. After first appearing in name alone on the very suspicious date of April 1st, the Nook Audio has finally been pictured -- and it looks a heck of a lot like branded headphones. We've reached out to the company for comment. We'll let you know when we get to the bottom of this one.

BlackBerry Curve 9320 shows up on T-Mobile's site, heading to the UK next month?

BlackBerry Curve 9320 shows up on T-Mobile's site, heading to the UK next month?

Last month we heard the Curve 9320 was readying itself for a discrete trip to India, and a recent "coming soon" page on T-Mo's site suggests the device could soon be heading to the UK. While the carrier's register sheet isn't revealing many details (save for the teasing photo above), The Inquirer claims the handset's warming up for an eventual launch in May. Of course, don't count on this OS 7.1-packing Curve to change much in comparison to the Indian flavor, as it's still expected to ship with identical lower-end specs, including the 3.2-megapixel rear camera, a 320 x 240 screen and 512MB of RAM. No word on pricing yet, but we're guessing it'll fall somewhere between "mildly tempting" and "almost free."
